Site Level Assessment of Governance and Equity. Oceans Alive have partnered with IUCN to train the Kuruwitu BMU, Kuruwitu Conservation and welfare CBO. . The methodology draws on the IUCN Good Governance principles and is being developed for Green List candidate sites, as well as other areas.

Last year Oceans Alive launched our R.A.R.E coral program working with various partners that includes Coralreefcare, Platcorp and Ocean Eyes. We have shown BMU executive on the processes of coral gardening and coral restoration also conveying to them through a peer-to-peer exchange the value of protecting and restoring coral for fish and marine life and thus their livelihoods.


In 2021 Oceans Alive out - planted 300 + coral of 7 different species back to the damaged reef as part of our R.A.R.E Program


Having orchestrated and facilitated the first Collaborative management plan in Kenya under the new guidelines Oceans Alive has formed a partnership with the Kuruwitu BMU and Kuruwitu Conservation and Welfare CBO to successfully implement it.
