Partnership for Sustainable Fishing Practices in Kuruwitu: Survey on BMU Registration and Licensing

Oceans Alive and KBMU are partnering to promote sustainable fishing practices in the Kuruwitu community! Ten local enumerators and six Fishing Landing site heads have been trained to conduct a survey on BMU registration and licensing among fishers and value chain actors. This sensitisation exercise will help raise awareness about the importance of proper registration and licensing in the fishing industry.

During the next ten days, the enumerators and Fishing Landing site heads will be working together to gather important data that will help improve fishing practices and protect our oceans. This initiative is a crucial step towards ensuring the sustainability of our fishing industry and preserving our marine ecosystems. This project is supported by EU International Partnerships and Press Acp through #BIOPAMA
